Therapy name: The Trager Approach

Overview: The Trager Approach combines manipulation of the body called tablework and self-care exercises called Mentastics.

How it works: Tablework promotes a sense of deep relaxation and allows the release of built-up patterns of tension.  Mentastics are simple exercises that the client can use in their everyday life to prolong the feeling of relaxation.

What to expect: You will be asked to lie on a special padded table wearing loose fitting clothes.  The practitioner works through a range of movements through natural paths using gentle manipulation of the limbs.

Known Contraindications: Caution is advised in the following cases: severely debilitated state, is extremely frail, or has had recent hospitalization for a severe illness, active thrombophlebitis (blood clots), recent surgery on joints (less than three months).
