Therapy name: Colour Therapy
Regulatory Body:
Efficacy: Health, Wellbeing, Balancing chakras
Overview: Colour therapy proposes that we can alter our state of health by altering the colours which surround us.
How it works: It has been proven that light can have an effect on the hypothalamus and the pineal and pituitary glands. Consequently it can have an effect on our mental and physical health.
Light is part of the electromagnetic spectrum. Other parts of the electromagnetic spectrum e.g. x-rays have been shown to have an effect on the human body. Colour is the visible light part of the electromagnetic spectrum and colour therapists suggest that this can also affect the body and mind.
Colour therapists believe that different parts of the body, mental states and emotions respond to different colours and colour can be used to treat those areas lacking in health.
What to expect: The therapist will ask about your medical history and current state of health. They will then observe your aura. This is an array of colours which emanates naturally from all of us. The therapist will either observe your aura through concentration or use a Kilner screen.
Treatment can take various forms:
- sunlight focussed on an area of the body
- use of coloured foods within the diet
- drinking Rainbow Water
- Colour breathing
- Shining white light through coloured filters onto various areas of the body
- Clothing colours
