Overview: Craniosacral therapy assists the body’s natural ability to self-heal through a subtle healing form.
How it works: Clinical observation has shown that intrinsic movements of the bones in the head are linked with mental and emotional health. Where this movement is restricted corresponds to a reduction in the natural capacity of the body to self-heal.
The therapist uses their hands to feel these movements and they are able to facilitate changes in areas of restriction.
What to expect: You will usually be asked to lie fully-clothed on a treatment couch. The therapist will place their hands lightly on your body and ‘listen’ to what is happening with their hands.
You will probably notice a sense of deep relaxation, subsequent treatments can often extend this feeling into your everyday life.
Known Contraindications: acute intracranial hemorrhage, intracranial aneurysm, recent skull fracture, herniation of the medulla oblongata
